Is it safe to put dried flowers on candles?

Putting dried flowers on candles is safe, keeping in mind the flame doesn’t come in contact with the dried flowers. During the making process, we position our flowers on the side of the candle and away from the wick to avoid flowers catching a fire. We highly recommended using our USB rechargeable candle lighter as a simple and safer way to light up your favourite candle, without the worry of burning your flowers. We strongly recommend you read the care instructions section on each product page first to ensure you follow the steps correctly when caring for your candle.

What type of wick do we use?

All our candles are made with lead-free cotton wicks, so you get an all-natural, non-toxic burn. We strongly recommend trimming the wick to ¼ inch at all times to ensure you get the most out of your candle and eliminate unwanted soot.

Is it normal for the candles to change colours overtime?

Natural ingredients in fragrances, like vanillin and cinnamon, can cause your candles to discolour over time. Natural vanilla is the base for several of our fragrances. This may cause the candle to turn yellow or light brown over time. This process is completely natural and does not affect the quality or burn of your candle.

How long should I allow my candle to burn before I smell the fragrance?

Allow your candle to burn at least 30 minutes or until a full wax pool has formed to the outer edges of the candle container. This will let the fragrance escape and provide the maximum scent throw.

Is it important to trim the wick of a candle?

To ensure the best life of your candle, keep your wick trimmed to ¼” at all times. Candles with more than 1 wick should be trimmed to the same height to promote an even burn. An untrimmed wick can also cause the candle to burn too hot, which can affect the fragrance and cause your candle to burn up faster than necessary. A wick that is too long will cause the risk of burning your flowers, create excess smoke, soot, and wick debris, which could potentially cause a fire.

Why is my candle look bumpy and rough on the surface after burning?

Don’t worry. This is completely normal and its how you know if your candle is made from 100% pure soy wax. Turns out, bumpy surfaces are common with soy wax and occurs when the candle cools down at an inconsistent rate. The good news is, you know your candle is all natural and doesn’t affect its performance.

Do we have sample sizes?

Yes, we do! Our discovery kit is the perfect way to explore and discover your favourites before committing to anything bigger. Each kit includes 4x 50g sample size maxi tealights of your choice and you can pick from a list of fruity, floral, gourmand and fresh scents and create your very own discovery
kit.

How can I get the most out of my candle?

1. The first burn is the most important.
When you light your candle for the first time, always allow the wax to burn so that it melts across the entire surface to the edges and pools to the edges of the container. This will effectively assist in preventing tunnelling and help promote an even burn for the duration of the candle's life.
Our lead-free cotton wicks take between 3-4 hours until a complete melt pool has formed.

2. Avoid light and hot temperatures.
Candle waxes and fragrances are sensitive to both temperature and light, so try to be careful when storing candles. Try to always store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This will always help protect it from discolouration and fading.

3. Keep your wick trimmed.
Trim the wick to 1/4" long and make sure the wick remains centered as it burns. We recommend trimming the wick every 3 hours of burn time. When trimming, always extinguish the flame, let the candle cool down to room temperature, remove any wick debris and trim the wick before relighting. This will help to encourage a more even burn, steady flame, and limit mushrooming and sooting.

4. Follow the half-inch wax golden rule.
Always monitor the amount of remaining wax in a candle container. Once the wax falls below the half-inch mark (1.27cm), discontinue use. The container can heat up when the flame nears the base of the jar and there is not much remaining wax. Following this rule will help prevent heat damage to the container and the surface surrounding the candle.

5. Putting out your candle
Try to always use a proper candle snuffer to extinguish your candles as this will prevent the wick from moving and wax from spilling. This will also assist in maximising your burn times.

6. To maximise fragrance scent throw
Keep doors and windows closed and burn for 30 minutes. Opening windows and doors will help the scent to disperse
